MOZART: REQUIEM
HAYDN: MARIA THERESA MASS

Yorkshire Baroque Soloists

Director – Peter Seymour

Soprano – Wendy Goodson
Alto – Nancy Cole
Tenor – Jason Darnell
Bass – Jamie Wright

Michael & Joseph Haydn

Jamie is delighted to return to York to perform as a soloist with the Yorkshire Bach Choir and the Yorkshire Baroque Soloists.

Part of the mystery and magic of Mozart’s ever popular, but unfinished, Requiem lies in the circumstances of its composition, immediately preceding the composer’s death. For this performance, we return to Duncan Druce‘s authoritative completion commissioned by Yorkshire Bach Choir in 1989 and now published by Novello. Haydn‘s six late mass settings are a pinnacle of their period, characterised by the vigour and brilliance of the writing for instruments and voices. The Maria Theresa Mass is no exception, combining classical elegance with the extraordinary musical wit and imagination of the composer’s dazzling late period.
